- David Brideaoke talks about the BOLD Jumper
 - When a horse is too bold, he approaches a fence in a longer flatter stride, going at a faster rate, and as a result, produces a longer, lower jump.
This jump is often suited to cross to cross country when a faster speed is required but in the showjumping arena, it more often produces knockdowns.
In the worst situation, these knockdowns mount up, the horse loses confidence and eventually stops. This stop can be fast and dangerous.

- My Favorite Exercise with Colleen Brook
 - One of my favourites is cavaletti. There are so many uses and they are a valuable learning tool for horses. Any inattentivness is fixed smartly. Some horses are worried about them and try to jump over two or three, all at once which can be a tad spectacular. Slow and steady wins the race on this one - start walking over 1 - then 2 and trot 1 then 2 then 3 - the distance must suit the horse. I put the cavaletti at 1.4 metres apart, and then shuffle around - out or in to suit the natural stride.

- Sitting on a Fence - and learning about fences
 - As I have remarked before in this magazine, it is both restful and stimulating to pull up a chair on the spacious lawns at Chatham Park and watch and listen as George Sanna goes about the business of training his jumping horses. George is not only a great trainer (with a string of wins at the highest levels to prove it) but like that other great jumper trainer George - Morris that is - George Sanna is a great theorizer, he is comfortable and coherent when it comes to putting his training theories into words.

- Stop Rushing at Jumps
 - I really can't tell the reason that your horse is rushing fences without first seeing her in person, jumping a course. However, I can give you some pointers.
